Jude Macasinag (b. 1999) is currently scholar at the Institut Francais de la Mode. He grew up in Manila, Philippines, starting his formal training in the field of visual arts at a very young age. In 2012, he was granted a full scholarship at the Philippine High School for the Arts as a visual arts major. Alongside his high school courses, he enrolled at Slims Fashion and Arts School wherein he took classes in fashion design and dressmaking. In 2019, he was granted a scholarship by IFM and is continuing his masteral studies there this 2022.
Jude has since then also exhibited his work in museums, fairs, and art centers in Philippines and Japan. He and his work have been featured in a number of newspaper articles and magazines, most of wich are in the Philippines. Before moving to Paris, he designed a capsule collection for the footwear brand Solsuela. In 2020, he was a speaker in an event organized by PHx Fashion Conference, wherein he discussed about mentorship to the Philippines creative industry. For the S/S 2022 season, he worked at the brand Koche wherein aside from studio work, he also produced featherwork and footwear under the guidance of Christelle Kocher.
Jude maintains a made-to-measure business under his name, working directly with private clients. His work aims to highlight craftsmanship, ethical production, and sustainability - all while bringing a contemporary design perspective. He utilizes his learnings in art, heritage, and history drawing from his own Filipino roots - to create new narratives that are equally visually exciting and relevant in context.
